LYNCHBURG VA — In response to steady growth, The Mid-State Group has moved its benefits and consulting operations to The Bedford Exchange, a 33,000 square foot business incubator complex at 2306 Bedford Avenue.
“2017 was Mid-State’s best year since 1964 due to overwhelming response for our proprietary Mid-State GPS consulting process,” said John Austin S. Basten, president. “Double-digit growth in employees and revenues overwhelmed our offices on both sides of Rivermont Avenue. However, the Mid-State insurance division will continue to serve clients at 2525 Rivermont Avenue.”
The larger facility also houses expanded training/seminar facilities for Mid-State’s Human Resources, Safety, Wellness, Benefits and Non-Profit consultant divisions. Training classes at the new facility will include CPR/AED, First Aid, Active Shooter, ServSafe, Functional Fitness, and more than 60 OSHA courses.
The Bedford Exchange will also be the new home to several area non-profits along with the relocated Lynchburg Crossfit gym. Basten and partners expect the space to foster a vibrant, creative environment for growth.
“We’re anticipating The Bedford Exchange will become a lively collaborative destination where business and non-profit professionals and entrepreneurs learn how to better themselves, their clients and the community,” he emphasized.
Major renovations on the former Vaughn Chevrolet building at 2306 Bedford Avenue began last year. Basten served as general contractor, assisted by partners Jerrod Ruhl, Daryl Calfee, and Adam Salvia and a host of local subcontractors.
Headquartered in Lynchburg since 1964, The Mid-State Group navigates growth strategies for businesses, organizations, families and individuals. The Mid-State Group is a family-owned umbrella of service companies including Mid-State Insurance, Mid-State HR, Mid-State Safety, Mid-State Wellness, and the educational Mid-State Academy.
